Since embarking on a photographic journey in 1977, my primary focus centered on landscapes and on my other work around architecture and urban scapes.
It all began at Carlow Regional Technical College (now Southeast Technological University), where my photographic foundation was developed using SLR cameras and with access to a darkroom, paved the way for my photographic endeavours.
I am currently pursuing an MA at Falmouth University in Cornwall; my projects delve into visual documentary-style imagery. My recent interests lie in the heart of the Irish Boglands, where my personal history of toiling on these lands, in the past, resonates with my current documentary. The vast expanse and rich history of these lands, from yesteryear to the present, continue to fuel my inspiration.
My ongoing project delves into the latent power within these landscapes capturing echoes of the past, the unfolding rewilding, and the ecological energies coalescing with the cutting-edge development of sustainable power.
As both a researcher and photographer, my mission is to encapsulate the essence of the boglands through the camera lens. I strive to include a narrative that intertwines the ecological, social, and evolving powers that shape these lands into the future and show the transformation within the vast beauty of the Irish boglands.
